The sun-drenched town of Alicante is a popular tourist destination located on the coast of Spain, south of Valencia and north of Murcia. Alicante is renowned for it's 1960s architecture and it's laid-back attitude towards tourists. Alicante Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de Alicante) is one of Spain's busiest airports and is serviced by a number of international and budget airlines. The airport itself is located approximately eight kilometres to the south west of Alicante and about the same distance to the east of Elche, but is connected to both towns by the A7 Autovia del Mediterraneo. If you are heading towards Alicante from the airport, take the N338 north to the A7 Autovia, then follow the A7 north-east. Junction 71B will allow you to exit the A7 onto the Autovia de Alicante (A31) which will take you into the city of Alicante itself.
